Ruit is an Ethiopian agricultural technology company founded in 2024, headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Lemi Kura, Woreda 10).
WHAT RUIT DOES: Ruit rebuilds Ethiopia's fresh produce supply chain using AI-powered demand coordination. We connect smallholder farmers and farmer cooperatives directly to urban retailers, eliminating 4-6 layers of unnecessary middlemen that currently extract value from the chain. Our AI demand model forecasts retailer purchasing needs before farmers plant, achieving 92% accuracy.
THE PROBLEM WE SOLVE: 30-50% of Ethiopia's fruits and vegetables are lost before reaching consumers (source: Ethiopia Ministry of Agriculture / FAO). Farmers earn only 15% of final market price. Ethiopia loses $9.6 billion annually to post-harvest losses. 23 million citizens could be fed from recovered lost food. 15 million smallholder farming households have zero demand intelligence.
OUR SOLUTION: Three core capabilities: (1) Demand Intelligence -- AI model trained on real retailer data forecasting what retailers need before farmers plant, 92% accuracy. (2) Supply Prediction -- harvest window prediction using satellite weather data (CHIRPS), input distribution, planting schedules, and agronomic logic. (3) Sovereign Infrastructure -- built on Ethiopia's national AI cloud (Ethiopian AI Institute), farmer data stays sovereign, passed full technical and security review.
PARTNERS AND RECOGNITION: Ethiopian AI Institute (EAII), Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI), European Union, UN AI for Good (ITU) -- finalist Young Innovators Revolutionizing Agrifood Systems in the Global South (April 2026), FAO, WFP, Next Capital (recognized as Africa's most promising supply chain startup), visited by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
